Katharine L. Malone has been practicing law since earning her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2012. With over a decade of experience, she has built a reputation as a strategic and thorough civil litigator, now serving clients as an attorney at Nakase Wade.
While at UC Hastings, Katharine served as Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Communications & Entertainment Law Journal and was awarded the Albert G. Evans Scholarship in Enterprise Award for her published legal scholarship on government regulation of private enterprise. She also earned the CALI Award in Cyberlaw, demonstrating an early commitment to the intersection of law and technology.
Since becoming a member of the California Bar in 2013 (Bar No. 290884), Katharine has cultivated a practice focused on complex civil litigation, including real estate disputes, trust and estate litigation, and business torts. At Nakase Wade, she represents clients in high-stakes matters, offering litigation strategy, discovery planning, and trial preparation tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Katharine’s previous experience includes serving as Of Counsel at Youngman Roberts Suen, where she led litigation in conservatorship, trust and estate, and civil matters. She handled all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, and settlement agreements.
As a litigation associate at Donahue Fitzgerald LLP, Katharine managed intricate real estate and fiduciary disputes from inception through trial readiness. She advised corporate clients on document retention, lien disputes, and bankruptcy considerations. Her representative work includes direct and derivative actions on behalf of corporate clients involving breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims.
Katharine also spent two years at the Joseph Saveri Law Firm, where she focused on antitrust and complex consumer class actions. She was a lead associate in the In re Juul litigation, overseeing discovery planning, depositions, and managing a document review team.
Earlier in her career, Katharine worked at Troutman Pepper LLP (formerly Troutman Sanders) and Greenberg Traurig LLP, where she litigated fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, privacy-related commercial disputes, and employment matters. She defended clients in regulatory investigations by the FTC, CFPB, and HHS, and regularly advised on data breach compliance.
Katharine began her legal career as an Associate Legal Editor for The Daily Journal, where she curated and edited legal commentary for clarity and relevance under tight deadlines—a foundation that sharpened her precision in legal writing.
She received her undergraduate degree from The George Washington University, where she double-majored in Political Science and Journalism. She was a National Merit Scholar and a member of the varsity rowing team, earning honors on the Atlantic-10 Conference Student-Athlete Honor Roll.
